How to Measure AC Current with a Clamp Meter
- Set the Range:
- Turn the range switch to 200A or 600A, depending on the expected current.
- Clamp the Meter:
- Press the trigger to open the transformer jaws.
- Clamp the jaws onto the conductor to measure current.
- For maximum accuracy, ensure the conductor is centered within the jaws.
- Read the Measurement:
- The AC current value will be displayed on the digital screen.
Important Safety Precautions
- Keep your fingers and hands behind the barrier during measurement.
- Never use the instrument with the battery cover removed.
- Remove any measurement probe before using the clamp jaws.
- Do not switch the range while performing a measurement.
- Avoid using the clamp meter on circuits exceeding 600 VAC RMS.
