Troubleshooting For Electronic Circuit

For maintenance or electrician,troubleshooting can be a very financially rewarding and personally satisfying.The good troubleshooter has a advantage and proper understanding of electrical or electronic ,hand on skills and problem solving techniques.Troubleshooting is an art.It need creativity and passion to become the expert.

Electronic devices or equipment contain similar component in their circuit board such as transistor,diode,capacitor,resistor,ic,relay,connector,wire and etc.We must understand deeply the component characteristic,common fault for these component,and how to test and verify their condition.

 

Troubleshooting methods for electronic circuit

When troubleshooting an electronic circuit ,it have a basic techniques and commonly practice by all troubleshooter around the world.It depends on the type of defect or symptom that exists.

I want share my experience about basic technique for troubleshooting an electronic circuit.I listed three ( 3 ) common items are as follows :

1) Ampere Measurement

– To measure this value ( current ),we usually use the ammeter or clamp-on-meter.Ampere is most important value to indicates the common circuit faulty such as open circuit,ground and short circuit.

-To measure the current value,must connect the ammeter or clamp-on-meter in series with load in the circuit.

2) Resistance Measurement

– To measure resistance or ohm value,we usually use the ohmmeter or multimeter.We can measure the circuit continuity and resistance value or resistance of component.With this value,we can determine the faulty of circuit or component of open circuit,short circuit and ground.

– Ensure the power supply should be to turn off before we use the ohmmeter or multimeter.It can cause the serious damage.

3) Voltage Measurement

– This is a basic of measure value for electronic or electrical circuit.To get the voltage value,usually we can use the voltmeter,oscilloscope or multimeter .

– When we perform measurement and get the zero voltage value,it may identify an open circuit problem.If we get low voltage reading it maybe indicate a short circuit of component or circuit.

– The measurement device must connect in parallel with the circuit or load.Please ensure the polarity of power supply.it positive ( + ) ~ negative ( – ) or negative ( – ) ~ positive ( + ).

Conclusion

When we detect and identify the component problem or the root cause of the defect,it mean we have to replacing suspected faulty component with a known good component.This method can save our time and frustration for the troubleshooter.

This method have a side risks such as the replacement component or circuit board may be damage due to error identify or mistake rectify the root cause.We cannot claim the warranty from distributor for this defect.It make we increase the repair cost because need to buy another part or component the rectify the actual problem.

So my advice to be an expert or good troubleshooter ” Learn from our mistakes,improve our technical knowledge,practice make perfect and be passion with high motivation about what we done “.
