When design the electrical installation and electric power for building or factory,the main objective that we need to focus is about emergency and standby electric power systems.The main reason  is the about safety of building occupants following a power outage.

Generator exitation

What is the excitation?The main purpose of excitation system for generator is to supply the power source to the rotor field coil.Excitation system produce the field current and it controlled by the automatic voltage regulator (AVR).I already discuss about automatic voltage regulator on my last post.

Usually the generator is designed to capable to delivery the power supply required due to time basic ( hour ) to ensure reliable operation and prevent serious breakdown.

Typically a given set can deliver more power for fewer hours per year, or less power continuously. That is a standby set is only expected to give its peak output for a few hours per year, whereas a continuously running set, would be expected to give a somewhat lower output, but literally continuously, and both to have reasonable maintenance and reliability. read more
