How to replace bearings for electric induction motor?

For electric motor failure causes,the common defected for mechanical part is bearing.Normally 1 unit motor have a 2 pieces of bearing and type of bearing for induction motor is ball bearing full metal cover ( ZZ ).

Root cause for bearings problem usually such as rusty due to condensation process,ball in housing broken,grease was burn out,a ball bearing nest broken and overload or motor shaft connected with load is not alignment properly.

For electrician or maintenance person,this is a routine jobs and it is a compulsory skills for this person who involved in electrical motor field.

Auto transformer starter

This starter produces high efficiency and have the option to be adjusted to obtain the necessary torque and in accordance with the system.It very efficiency stater but the disadvantage is it very high cost to setup control panel stater.

It can improved torque ratio is achieved and starting current is typically 3 times Full Load Current , depending on the voltage taps selected.Typically it have taps at 50%,65% and 80% voltage.

During start-up, the motor is connected to the auto transformer’s tapping. This means that the motor starts up with a reduced voltage and a correspondingly low current.

Direct on line starter

Around the world it famous with name DOL starter or direct on line starter.This is the most common starting method available on the market and at basic stater for all motor application.The starting equipment consists of only a main contactor and thermal or electronic overload relay.The disadvantage with DOL starter is that it gives the highest possible starting current.

A normal value is between 6 to 7 times the rated motor current but values of up to 9 or 10 times the rated current exist.Besides then DOL starter draw the starting current there also exists a current peak that can rise up to 14 times the rated current since the motor is not energized from the the first moment when starting. read more
